Description/Abstract
A description of studies into the use of luminescence spectroscopy as an aid in the separation of polymers is presented. The luminscence spectra of some simple polymer/inorganic phosphor systems are presented and analysed. The suitability of inorganic phosphors for use as polymer 'tags' is examined in the light of presently available commercial industrial plant, and some modifications to this are suggested.
