| Description/Abstract: | Altered States seeks to uncover the ways in which contemporary artists have been inspired by historical, current and future developments in bio-medical research and the impact science has had and is having on cultural and human endeavour.
Featuring a range of artistic practice including installation and wall based work; artists will explore the importance of cultural references such as Mary Shelley’s ‘Frankenstein’ to current concerns regarding genetics, medicine, reproduction, anatomy, mortality and longevity. There will be a series of related events and talks taking place during November and December. |
