Description/Abstract
Smooth supercontinuum generation has been observed at long wavelengths in a tapered highly-nonlinear bismuth silicate fibre. The zero-dispersion wavelength for a range of taper diameters has been predicted applying the exact solution of Maxwell's equations for an air-suspended rod.
