Description/Abstract
In this paper we describe a system that is designed to track a user selected object through an arbitrary digital video sequence. The system provides a useful tool for developers and users of multimedia systems, where object motion is often important. The system uses a variety of shape matching techniques derived from template matching and the generalised Hough transform. These are combined with a Kalman filter that models the object motion in order to speed the tracking process and resolve some ambiguities.
