Description/Abstract

It is often said that inflation carries with it major costs for the economy, but all too often these costs are assumed rather that analysed. This article examines the arguments concerning the costs of inflation and reviews the empirical evidence. The author concludes that the unavoidable costs of moderate inflation may be rather small.
