Lanthanide Directed Self-Assembly of Highly Luminescent Supramolecular “Peptide” Bundles from ?-Amino Acid Functionalized 2,6-Bis(1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)pyridine (btp) Ligands
The development of lanthanide “peptide” bundles from ?-amino acid functionalized 2,6-bis(1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)pyridine (btp) ligands is described, using either Eu(III)- or Tb(III)-directed synthesis. These ligands form stable and luminescent 1:3 (Ln:L) stoichiometric complexes in CH3CN upon the addition of 0.33 equiv of Ln(III); the Tb(III) bundles, in particular, are highly luminescent with quantum yields of up to 70%.

Abstract

The development of lanthanide “peptide” bundles from ?-amino acid functionalized 2,6-bis(1,2,3-triazol-4-yl)pyridine (btp) ligands is described, using either Eu(III)- or Tb(III)-directed synthesis. These ligands form stable and luminescent 1:3 (Ln:L) stoichiometric complexes in CH3CN upon the addition of 0.33 equiv of Ln(III); the Tb(III) bundles, in particular, are highly luminescent with quantum yields of up to 70%.
