Jakarta’s failure to tackle illegal burning is threatening its relations with its neighboursThe 2015 UN Conference on Climate Change in Paris concluded, as expected, with mixed results: the reaffirmation of old pledges to tackle global warming, plus new pledges, of which some will be realised and others will be quietly forgotten. Still, there is a sense of optimism that the international commitment is there: for instance, China, the country with the highest levels of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, has shut down a significant number of coal power plants, resulting in a near 4 per cent reduction in its GHG emissions.
