Image recognition and quantum gating with plasmonic metadevices

Image recognition and quantum gating with plasmonic metadevices
Image recognition and quantum gating with plasmonic metadevices
The coherent interaction of light on plasmonic metasurface nanostructures provides an effective nonlinearity that is compatible with quantum-limited intensities and offers high contrast modulation of light with light with 10s of THz bandwidth. We demonstrate experimentally that this enables metasystems providing all-optical image recognition, logical operations between images, massively parallel optical data processing and quantum-level gating with entangled photons.

Abstract

The coherent interaction of light on plasmonic metasurface nanostructures provides an effective nonlinearity that is compatible with quantum-limited intensities and offers high contrast modulation of light with light with 10s of THz bandwidth. We demonstrate experimentally that this enables metasystems providing all-optical image recognition, logical operations between images, massively parallel optical data processing and quantum-level gating with entangled photons.
