Description/Abstract
Seven round tables based on stimulating proposals by illustrious scholars of languages, literature, history and theatrical theory plus thirteen sessions of open debates on more recent themes of research on Verdi are condensed into the proceedings of this conference, the most important cultural event of the celebrations marking the centenary of the composer’s death. Edoardo Sanguineti’s opening address, at the beginning of the volume, recalls fundamental moments of the presence of Verdi’s operas in the literary imagination of 20th century Italy.
