Description/Abstract
Identifies the seven elements which make up an individual's emotional intelligence: self-awareness, emotional resilience, motivation, sensitivity, persuasiveness, decisiveness and integrity. Suggests that it is more important than IQ in determining success and briefly describes a study which confirmed this and devised a psychometric test to measure it. Considers how it can be developed, stressing that organizations need the right corporate culture to benefit from this. Calls for more research to understand its role in business more fully.
