Description/Abstract
In this essay, I read some recent film and television adaptations of Austen “at a distance,” and think about both what is “beyond” that English landscape and “contemporary resonances” in Austen adaptations and work inspired by her writing. More specifically, I discuss the global Austen in relation to the French Revolution and the Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.
