Potential uses of the MESSAGE components and system
Early in the project, a range of 'technical scenarios' were designed which would stretch the development of the Mobile Environmental Sensor System Across Grid Environments (MESSAGE) components and system infrastructure in different directions. As the focus of the project was the development of the overall system concept, rather than fully developed and tested projects, these scenarios were used to explore the potential of the MESSAGE core infrastructure. This paper outlines a selection of these scenarios and shows how they were used to help understand the needs for fine resolution air pollution data, identify the limitations of existing air quality monitoring procedures, and evaluate the progress made during the course of the MESSAGE project
