Waste management in UK higher education establishments
Waste management in UK higher education establishments
A nationwide survey of higher education (HE) institutions in the UK has been carried out in order to identify, quantify and evaluate the approaches to waste collection, recycling and disposal and examine the potential for improving waste management systems.

The study highlights significant potential for increased capture of resources and substantial room for operational improvements; a lack of accurate and reliable data on waste arisings and the associated costs; and an opportunity for partnership with local authorities.
