Description/Abstract

We report a substantial improvement in the generation of high energy ultra-short pulses with fibre based chirped-pulse amplification system through the use of a large-mode area erbium-doped fibre. With a 20µm modev field diameter single-mode fibre in the final amplification stage of the system, pulse energies over 20µJ were obtained.
