Simultaneous laser oscillation near 2?m and 2.3?m on the 3H4 -3H6 and 3F4 - 3H5 transitions respectively has been demonstrated in a thulium-doped fluorozirconate fiber when pumping at 0.79?m. Diode-pumped operation of the 3H4 - 3H6 transition has also been achieved. Pulsed laser emission at 1.72?m has been observed on the 4S3/2 - 4I9/2 transition in an erbium-doped fluorozirconate fiber when pumping at 488nm or 514nm.
