Description/Abstract
The longest reported lifetime for the Pr3+:1G4 energy level was measured at 2.4 ms in Cs:Ga:S:Cl2 glass, with a 24% total quantum efficiency. The Pr3+:1G4 - 3H5 emission, peaking at 1312nm is centred in the second optical telecommunication window and the gain per unit pump power is predicted to be twice as high as that of other candidates.
