Horizontal directionality characteristics of the bat head-related transfer function

Horizontal directionality characteristics of the bat head-related transfer function
Horizontal directionality characteristics of the bat head-related transfer function
In this paper, the measurements of the head-related transfer function (HRTF) of the bat-head models are presented and analyzed in order to evaluate acoustic spectral characteristics of the sound received by the bat’s ears during the echolocation process. For that purpose, three different artificial models of the bat head are considered - a sphere model, a sphere model with pinna and a bat-head cast - with aim to identify the spectral localization cues in the frontal part of the horizontal plane defined by the bat’s head and pinna shape and size.

Abstract

In this paper, the measurements of the head-related transfer function (HRTF) of the bat-head models are presented and analyzed in order to evaluate acoustic spectral characteristics of the sound received by the bat’s ears during the echolocation process. For that purpose, three different artificial models of the bat head are considered - a sphere model, a sphere model with pinna and a bat-head cast - with aim to identify the spectral localization cues in the frontal part of the horizontal plane defined by the bat’s head and pinna shape and size.
