Synthesis and properties of ditelluroether complexes of osmium, trans- OsCl2(L-L)(2) and trans- OsCl(PPh3) (L-L)(2) PF6 (L-L = o-C6H4(TeMe)(2), RTe(CH2)(3)TeR (R = Ph or Me))
The complexes trans-[OsCl2(L-L)(2)] (L-L=o-C6H4(TeMe)(2), RTe(CH2)(3)TeR (R = Ph or Me)) have been prepared from trans-[OsCl2(dmso)(4)] and the ditelluroethers in ethanol. The reaction of [OsCl2(PPh3)(3)] with the ditelluroethers or MeSCH2CH2SMe or MeSe(CH2)(3)SeMe in ethanol in the presence of NH4PF6 gave trans-[OsCl(PPh3) (L-L)(2)]PF6. The complexes have been characterised by analysis, IR, UV-Vis and multinuclear NMR spectroscopy. The reaction of OsO4-HCl-EtOH with PhTe(CH2)(3)TePh results in chlorination of the ligand to PhTeCl2(CH2)(3)TePhCl2, identified by single-crystal X-ray study. The X-ray structure for trans-[OsCl2{PhTe(CH2)(3)TePh}(2)] is reported. The reaction of [OsCl2(dmso)(4)] with the distibine Ph2Sb(CH2)(3)SbPh2 affords trans-[OsCl2{Ph2Sb(CH2)(3)SbPh2}(2)] which has also been characterised crystallographically.

Abstract

The complexes trans-[OsCl2(L-L)(2)] (L-L=o-C6H4(TeMe)(2), RTe(CH2)(3)TeR (R = Ph or Me)) have been prepared from trans-[OsCl2(dmso)(4)] and the ditelluroethers in ethanol.
