Development of a two dimensional flow test section for a wind tunnel and its use with a hybrid flapped multiplane
The report describes the development of a two dimensional flow wind tunnel test section, suitable for measuring lift. Its principal use was in developing aerofoils for windship propulsion and results for one of these provide an illustrative example. The results indicate that a C subscript L of around 4.2 can be achieved without flow separation and a C subscript LMAX of around 4.7 with separation.

Abstract

The report describes the development of a two dimensional flow wind tunnel test section, suitable for measuring lift. Its principal use was in developing aerofoils for windship propulsion and results for one of these provide an illustrative example. The results indicate that a C subscript L of around 4.2 can be achieved without flow separation and a C subscript LMAX of around 4.7 with separation.
