New development: the infrastructural aspect of social capital: suggestions for a bridge between concept and policy
Social capital is a fashionable concept but, as its more realistic academic exponents admit, not one readily translated into policy action. This article takes a sideways look at currently-accepted definitions and suggests a small modification—a physical handle to help policy-makers grasp the concept better and encourage social capital research with a stronger practical orientation.
