Analysis of potentials and limitations of automated urban transport systems
Private car dependency has led to increasingly unacceptable levels of congestion and environment concerns, to deterioration of urban areas and social exclusion. Automated urban transport systems (AUTS), which are already used in targeted applications, have the potential to provide more sustainable and social-inclusive mobility. The CyberMove project is an EC-funded project aimed at developing, testing and disseminating AUTS technologies. This paper investigates the potentials and limitations of AUTS, based on reviews of the knowledge and experience of key stakeholders and through feasibility studies and the planning processes for test-sites in the project.

Abstract
