Case study o the application of BPR in an SME contractor.
The UK government strongly encouraged the construction industry to improve its efficiency during the 1990s. P Trant Limited, a medium-sized civil engineering contractor located in the south of England took on board this challenge and carried out a Business Process Re-engineering programme. This paper describes the process modelling tools used, the re-engineered processes and the efficiency gains produced. It is shown that mature medium-sized contracting companies can benefit from undertaking such a change programme and that the benefits are not restricted to large companies or groups.
