Case Report: the management of heel fissures using a steroid impregnated tape (Haelan) in a patient with keratoderma climactericum
Mrs FC was a 45-year-old patient who presented to the foot dermatology clinic with a four-month history of scaling and general soreness of her feet unrelieved by emollients.
The patient had initially noticed patches of dry skin on both soles, and these had gradually increased in size. More recently, fissures had appeared on the medial borders of both heels (Figure 1). The patient’s medical history revealed no major illnesses apart from hypertension, which was well controlled with an ACE inhibitor, and minor menopausal symptoms. She reported no family history of skin disease.
