Optical channel waveguide in chalcogenide (Ga:La:S) glass
Optical channel waveguide in chalcogenide (Ga:La:S) glass
A novel method for fabricating optical channel waveguides in Ga:La:S chalcogenide glass, through continuous wave direct UV laser writing (λ=244 nm) is reported. Well-formed single-mode channel structures, with low propagation losses of 0.38±0.05 dB/cm at 1.3µm, were engineered using this technique.

Abstract

A novel method for fabricating optical channel waveguides in Ga:La:S chalcogenide glass, through continuous wave direct UV laser writing (λ=244 nm) is reported. Well-formed single-mode channel structures, with low propagation losses of 0.38±0.05 dB/cm at 1.3µm, were engineered using this technique.
