PtML/Pd/C Core-Shell Electrocatalysts for the ORR in PEMFCs
In this work, a controlled surface reaction (CSR), was used to prepare PtML/Pd/C core-shell catalysts. The structures of the catalysts were characterised by X-ray diffraction (XRD), High Resolution Transmission Microscopy (HRTEM), and cyclic voltammetry. The oxygen reduction activity of the catalysts was assessed via the thin film rotating disc electrode method and in a miniature PEM fuel cell. Results that are presented compare PtML/Pd/C core-shell electrocatalysts with a standard 40% Pt/C.
