Serena Korda: The Library of Secrets

26 September 2008 - 23 November 2008

Visit the Reading Room at Camden Arts Centre and go on a fantastic journey with the Library of Secrets. Devised by artist Serena Korda, you are invited to browse the library and leave a secret anonymously between the pages of a book you've selected, returning it to the shelves.

The Library will be the fulcrum for a series of performance lectures based on a set of books housed in The Library of Secrets collection called ‘The Wonder Books’, see the talks and events calendar for performance timings.

‘The Wonder Books’ were produced during the 1930s and 40s and were aimed at educating a generation of children in matters of general knowledge and wonder. One of the books in the series entitled 'Why and What?' answer’s questions like, How does a Bee Sting? What is a Gramophone? What is the Moon? What is Money? These are the sort of questions that children ask on a regular basis, they are questions that adults can take for granted and often don’t really know the answers to. They are questions that we have stopped asking in our daily lives however fundamental to our understanding of the universe.
