Site artist at King's Cross: Ellie Reid

Ellie Reed, Shift
01 August 2008 - 22 February 2009

Ellie Reid has been appointed “site artist” for the largest development in Central London at King's Cross Central.

Reid trained at the Slade School of Fine Art just across the road from King’s Cross and specialises in fabricating works from materials sourced on site. At King’s Cross she plans to create pieces which respond to the dramatically changing area, taking materials left over from the work around the construction site and building her sculptures across the development.

On 21st February at 2.30pm Ellie Reed gives a talk at Camden Arts Centre about her residency and wider work. Book a place.

Her exhibition 'Shift' is open from 06 - 22 February 2009 at the German Gymnasium, King's Cross. Her stunning first solo exhibition is the culmination of this six month project funded by the Arts Council England.

Featuring sculptural works, drawings and film projections, and incorporating materials such as plastic sheeting, debris netting, wood and rubble bags, the exhibition seeks to reflect the changing nature of the construction site.
