This publication has been produced in conjunction with the exhibition Fantastical Identities at the Changshu Art Museum, a curated exhibition of film posters, contextual photographs and cinema ephemera selected from the personal collection of the artist Robert E. D’Souza.

The posters selected deal with forms of cultural identity through the representation of the hero and heroine in popular India cinema. This publication places poster details from the exhibition into context against photographs taken by the artist of the Indian film industry and posters in situ on the streets of India.
