The structure of the CAS type zeolite, Cs4[Al4Si20O48] by high-resolution powder neutron diffraction 29Si MAS and NMR
The structure of the CAS type zeolite, Cs4[Al4Si20O48] by high-resolution powder neutron diffraction 29Si MAS and NMR
The structure Of Cs4[Al4Si20O48] with the zeolite framework type CAS has been refined using high-resolution powder neutron diffraction data. The refined distribution of silicon and aluminium is not random but has aluminium preferentially located on one of the three tetrahedral sites. This result is confirmed by 29Si MAS NMR data from the same material that also indicates that orientated O3Si-O-AlO3 pairs exist in the structure.

Abstract
The structure Of Cs4[Al4Si20O48] with the zeolite framework type CAS has been refined using high-resolution powder neutron diffraction data. The refined distribution of silicon and aluminium is not random but has aluminium preferentially located on one of the three tetrahedral sites. This result is confirmed by 29Si MAS NMR data from the same material that also indicates that orientated O3Si-O-AlO3 pairs exist in the structure.
