Unusual structural trends in the MCl3( 8 aneSe(2)) (M = As, Sb, Bi) adducts
The structures of the homologous [MCl3([8]aneSe(2))] ( M = As, Sb or Bi; [8] aneSe(2) = 1,5-diselenacyclooctane) ladder structures formed from planar M2Cl6 units linked by selenoether ligands with trans Se atoms reveal unexpected structural patterns - possible reasons for these are discussed.

Abstract
The structures of the homologous [MCl3([8]aneSe(2))] ( M = As, Sb or Bi; [8] aneSe(2) = 1,5-diselenacyclooctane) ladder structures formed from planar M2Cl6 units linked by selenoether ligands with trans Se atoms reveal unexpected structural patterns - possible reasons for these are discussed.
