A generic methodology for post-damage decisions

A generic methodology for post-damage decisions
A generic methodology for post-damage decisions
A generic methodology is developed that enables vessel owners to apply a systematic procedure to make decisions regarding damaged vessels. The methodology is based on the Royal National Lifeboat Institution's experience of composite vessels. It is demonstrated that the methodology is applicable to both composite and metallic structure through two illustrative examples. A detailed description of each part of the procedure is provided in the paper along with a justification of each step. It is intended that the procedure be made available through computer software; how this might be implemented is also described in the paper.

Abstract

A generic methodology is developed that enables vessel owners to apply a systematic procedure to make decisions regarding damaged vessels. The methodology is based on the Royal National Lifeboat Institution's experience of composite vessels. It is demonstrated that the methodology is applicable to both composite and metallic structure through two illustrative examples. A detailed description of each part of the procedure is provided in the paper along with a justification of each step. It is intended that the procedure be made available through computer software; how this might be implemented is also described in the paper.
