Abstract

In this paper the main systems features are described of a proposed Multimedia INtelligent Oncology Workstation (MINOW) for use in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. The MINOW tool is conceived as a distributed intelligent decision support system based on Object Technology and Open Systems for which development would be an ongoing evolutionary process. Issues of system architecture and interface design have been outlined, and major system components such as the application of a constructive learning algorithm and the use of a fuzzy knowledge repository have been described
