High-Speed PM Gas Turbine Generators

High-Speed PM Gas Turbine Generators
High-Speed PM Gas Turbine Generators
The concept of micro gas turbine directly coupled to a high-speed PM alternator is being established in the energy market, particularly in the form of local CHP (combined heat and power) systems. Market acceptance of this system looks promising. Prediction of eddy-current power loss in high-speed PM generators is an important subject, helping the designer to avoid over-heating and maximise efficiency. Reducing slot-opening and increasing airgap reduces rotor power loss considerably.

Abstract

The concept of micro gas turbine directly coupled to a high-speed PM alternator is being established in the energy market, particularly in the form of local CHP (combined heat and power) systems. Market acceptance of this system looks promising. Prediction of eddy-current power loss in high-speed PM generators is an important subject, helping the designer to avoid over-heating and maximise efficiency. Reducing slot-opening and increasing airgap reduces rotor power loss considerably.
