Validation of numerical codes for the simulation of microwave heating and associated gas discharge phenomena
A number of examples are presented, which validate Finite Element numerical algorithms developed for the accurate and efficient prediction of the electric field in materials placed within microwave heating applicators and for the characterisation of gas discharges potentially occurring during the operation of industrial systems. The results presented are a successful culmination of numerical simulations coupled with experimental work in order to confirm the validity of the developed algorithms.

Abstract
