The 'Big Picture' and researchers' top concerns about the scholarly communications process: a report to the JISC Scholarly Communications Group
The report reviews the 'big picture' with respect to scholarly communication in 2008. It then documents the findings from our investigation into the four top concerns of researchers previously elicited by a JISC Scholarly Communications Group survey of researchers. The top concerns revealed by that survey were accessibility, copyright, quality and cost. Our study explored these in more detail by means of interviews and focus group discussions with researchers from a broad range of subject areas. The study makes a number of recommendations to the JISC SCG regarding future work and actions.
