Baumberg, J.J., Netti, M.C., Mahnkopf, S., Lincoln, J.R., Charlton, M.D.B., Cox, S.J., Ayliffe, P.J., Zoorob, M.E., Wilkinson, J.S., Perney, N.M.B. and Jaiswal, S.L. (2005) Metallo-dielectric photonic crystals for reproducible surface-enhanced Raman substrates At Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO), United States. 22 - 27 May 2005.

Record type: Conference or Workshop Item (Paper)

Planar photonic crystals comprised of metals and dielectrics show huge enhancements in the surface-enhanced Raman scattering of attached molecules. Plasmon engineering is key to these properties including reproducibility (<9%), beamed output, resonances and orientation.
