Abstract

This is the first authoritative account of the Verderers and their powers to be published for many years. Sarah Nield is a senior lecturer in law at Southampton University and has carried out a detailed study of the Forest's administration in preparing this book. It covers not only the workings of the Verderers' Court, but also the relationship of the Court's powers to those of the Forestry Commission and European conservation regulations. The place of the national park set up in 2005 is also dealt with.
