Young people, unemployment duration and the new deal in Northern Ireland
In September 2001 the Department for Employment and Learning (DEL)
commissioned a research team from the Northern Ireland Economic Research
Centre (NIERC) and the University of Southampton (UoS) to examine the effects
of the introduction of the New Deal for 18-24 Year Olds (ND18-24) on the
duration of unemployment spells for the 18-24 year old age group in Northern
Ireland (NI). This revised report sets out the findings of the NIERC/UoS study.
