In 2010, English Heritage commissioned the Hampshire & Wight Trust for Maritime Archaeology to undertake a case study assessment into the suitability of applying terrestrial legislation to the marine zone. Specifically, the application of Scheduling under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979, to the marine zone. The case study was the submerged remains of a WWII Landing Craft and associated vehicle assemblage, preserved in good condition across two sites, in the Eastern Solent, England. This report describes the application and main findings of this important case-study for the future protection and management of England's Underwater Cultural Heritage
