Intermediate care: the shape of the team
Intermediate care: the shape of the team
There is increasing interest in intermediate care – an approach that seeks to link care for people moving between acute, primary and social care services. This paper asks whether a new type of health worker would better suited to the needs of patients within an intermediate care environment than the traditional roles of doctors, nurses and therapists. It examines the issues and attitudes towards intermediate care within and between professional groups, and argues that they can help to identify key factors in shaping an appropriately skilled team.
