More information

Accepted/In Press date: 1995
Additional Information: The catalogue was published in conjunction with Rasheed Araeen's solo exhibition at South London Gallery from November to December 1994, and at John Hansard Gallery from January to March 1995. It features two dimensional works developed in the Eighties, as well as new works made for the exhibition, which include three dimensional pieces and a live television. Derived from his Sixties' minimal work, the wall pieces are comprised of nine equal size panels arranged in a grid, in which painting and photography (often shots taken from a television screen) are juxtaposed in order to highlight and critique the prevailing art system. Live television is further used to question its powerful role in modern society.
