Paridad de género en estudios de postgrado en ciencias de la computación en Venezuela

Paridad de género en estudios de postgrado en ciencias de la computación en Venezuela
Paridad de género en estudios de postgrado en ciencias de la computación en Venezuela
In order to successfully complete postgraduate studies in Computer Science, women overcome additional barriers to those inherent to the learning of the discipline: those related to their gender. This paper presents a quantitative historical analysis of gender equality across all cohorts of postgraduate studies in Computer Science in the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) since it was established until today. Percentage ratios and gender parity index (GPI) are assessed across the three programmes on offer: postgraduate diploma, master and doctorate. Additionally, a comparison against the participation of women at this level in other countries is offered. Indicators reveal that at this level, UCV’s gender parity is one of the best in the world, and very close to the ideal recommended by the UNESCO.
