Some results of tensile creep and creep rupture tests of geosynthetics
An equipment developed to carry out tensile creep and creep rupture tests of geosynthetics is described. These tests allow studying the long term tensile mechanical behaviour of geosynthetics. First, the concepts of creep and creep rupture are presented, which are the basis for the tests procedures. The equipment developed and the test method used are described and some initial test results are presented. The research program included two geosynthetics, a woven polypropylene geotextile and a woven polyester geogrid, with similar values for their nominal tensile strength. The results are presented and discussed. The main conclusions of this study are also presented.
