Silica-supported imine palladacycles - recyclable catalysts for the Suzuki reaction?

Silica-supported imine palladacycles - recyclable catalysts for the Suzuki reaction?
Silica-supported imine palladacycles - recyclable catalysts for the Suzuki reaction?
Silica-supported, imine-based palladacyclic catalysts show not only considerably lower activity in the Suzuki reaction than their homogeneous counterparts, but also poor recyclability. Whilst the solid-supported complexes are not useful as catalysts, they do function as excellent mechanistic probes and evidence is presented that all imine-based palladacyclic complexes act as precursors for zero-valent active catalysts.

Abstract

Silica-supported, imine-based palladacyclic catalysts show not only considerably lower activity in the Suzuki reaction than their homogeneous counterparts, but also poor recyclability. Whilst the solid-supported complexes are not useful as catalysts, they do function as excellent mechanistic probes and evidence is presented that all imine-based palladacyclic complexes act as precursors for zero-valent active catalysts.
