Readme file for data set entitled "Simulations and experiments showing the origin of multiwavelength mode locking in femtosecond Yb-fiber lasers" James Feehan, 5/7/2016 This readme file describes the formatting of the data shown in the journal article of the same title. The data given in Figures 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, the first plot in figure 8, and the data from figure 9 all appear in the .ods file. The formatting is given in each sheet of data in the spreadsheet. For the density plots (Figure 7), the data is organised as follows: 2^12 rows x 201 columns: First column is the time (or frequency) grid used for the x-axis in the plots, and the remaining 200 columns are the pulse time (or frequency) data for each roundtrip simulated (200 in total). The roundtrip number (1 to 200) was used for the y-axis, and the matlab imagesc function was used to plot the data. The following files in the repository have this format: Port_1_spectrum_vs_roundtrip_multiwavelength.txt Port_1_spectrum_vs_roundtrip_singlewavelength.txt Port_2_spectrum_vs_roundtrip_multiwavelength.txt Port_2_spectrum_vs_roundtrip_singlewavelength.txt Port_1_time_vs_roundtrip_multiwavelength.txt Port_1_time_vs_roundtrip_singlewavelength.txt Port_2_time_vs_roundtrip_multiwavelength.txt Port_2_time_vs_roundtrip_singlewavelength.txt For the spectrograms (Figure 8), the data is organised as follows: 3841 rows (time data, y-axis used in plots), 4096 columns (frequency data, x-axis used in plots). Again, the matlab imagesc function was used to plot the data. The data is normalised such that the peak spectrogram value is equal to one.
