Caregiving
Caregiving
“Caregiving” is a complex and enduring term that denotes the physical, emotional, and psychological assistance that individuals, including family members, actors of the state, and the voluntary sector, provide to people in need of support. Given the varied relationships involved across the spectrum of care, it has become an increasingly contested term, depending on the ideologies behind it, the manner in which it is given, and who receives it. Geographers have engaged in a number of key debates and issues associated with the term, as they have tackled and contributed to our understanding of caregiving
