Femtosecond laser nano-structuring of transparent materials
New phenomena of anisotropic light scattering, anisotropic Cherenkov third harmonic generation, photoinduced birefringence and anisotropic reflection from femtosecond direct-write structures are reviewed. The phenomena and recent direct observation reveal the smallest embedded structures ever created by light and new mechanism of light-matter interaction.
