Techniques for increasing trust in federated experimental platforms

Techniques for increasing trust in federated experimental platforms
Techniques for increasing trust in federated experimental platforms
This paper addresses the question of how to increase trust in experimental platforms by considering the specific risks and trust issues that using a platform imposes on an organization, rather than the issues arising when acting alone. It follows this analysis with policies and technical countermeasures necessary to mitigate risks and increase reliability. The mechanisms to achieve this combine both out of band agreements and platform management services that increase protection of assets and provide platform users with information to enable them to make informed trust judgements about platform interaction and the resources they want to use.

Abstract

This paper addresses the question of how to increase trust in experimental platforms by considering the specific risks and trust issues that using a platform imposes on an organization, rather than the issues arising when acting alone. It follows this analysis with policies and technical countermeasures necessary to mitigate risks and increase reliability. The mechanisms to achieve this combine both out of band agreements and platform management services that increase protection of assets and provide platform users with information to enable them to make informed trust judgements about platform interaction and the resources they want to use.
