Afterword: The craft of paradata, marginalia and fieldnotes
In this concluding chapter of our edited volume we consider some of the important ideas about the value of studying paradata, marginalia and fieldnotes that run across the quite diverse contributions to this collection. What knowledge about the craft may be carved out of the interface of disciplinary and methodological approaches and concerns that constitute this collection? No matter what the substantive topic of the activity of which these materials are a by-product, the disciplinary field in which the researcher who studies them is steeped, or the analytic method they deploy, there are recurrent messages about the practice of the craft emerging from the chapters: significance, value, context, sets of relations.
