Revitalized transport geographies

Revitalized transport geographies
Revitalized transport geographies
This concluding chapter outlines the authors views on how this renaissance in transport geography might be sustained. The crux of the argument is that transport geography's revival will be most effectively promoted through a genuine commitment to interdisciplinarity, expanding the content of its inquiry while at the same time adopting complementary advances in methodology. With regard to content, it seems that there are two important fields of analysis: "first round effects," which will continue to be driven by changing forms and patterns of mobility, and "second round effects," which will shape and be shaped by these new mobilities. The authors use globalization, the dominance of extended metropolitan regions and the reconfiguarion of urban areas as examples
